FAQ

Straight answers.

What Crew & Level does, what it costs, how your data is handled, and what switching looks like. Something missing? Ask us.

The product

What is Crew & Level?

Field service software for contractors. Leads from every channel land in one pipeline, jobs go on a drag-and-drop board, your techs run their day from the tech app, customers get on-my-way texts with a live map, and estimates and invoices get signed and paid from a text.

Who is it for?

Builders, plumbers, electricians, HVAC and rehab crews, from the owner-operator who is the tech and the office to shops of thirty or more. Solo covers one person, Crew up to five, and Level fifteen included with room to add more.

Is there an app for my techs?

Yes. The tech app shows each technician their own jobs for the day, lets them clock in and take breaks, head out (which texts the customer), start and finish jobs, take photos, fill in checklists, build estimates and get them signed on the spot, and take payments. It keeps working without signal and sends everything once it's back online.

What does the AI receptionist actually do?

On the Level plan it answers your business line and your texts when you can't. It can look up the caller, answer questions about their appointment or invoice, book them into an open time, log a new lead, and hand the call to your office when a person should take it. Every call and transcript lands in your Inbox.

It needs a business phone number connected, and you can turn it off at any time.

How do customers pay?

Invoices and estimate deposits go out by text or email with a link. Customers pay by card or bank transfer (ACH) on a secure checkout page, and can add a tip. Payments run through your own Stripe account, so Stripe's processing fees apply and payouts go to your bank. You can also record cash and checks.

What doesn't it do yet?

Consumer financing isn't offered yet, and neither is Reserve with Google. Tap to Pay on the phone isn't available yet. Customers, price books and your job, estimate, invoice and payment history come over from spreadsheet exports (see Switching, below). We'd rather tell you now than have you find out on a job.

Free trial & billing

How does the free trial work?

You get 14 days with everything in the plan you pick, and you don't need a card to start. If you don't choose, your trial is on Crew.

Compare the plans

What happens when the trial ends?

To keep going, pick a plan and add a card in Settings → Billing; nothing is charged unless you do. If you don't, your account turns read-only: you can still sign in, see everything and subscribe, but you can't make changes. Your customers aren't affected: their portal, payments and your booking page keep working.

How much does it cost?

Solo is $59 a month with 1 person included and $39 a month for each extra person. Crew is $149 a month with 5 people included and $29 a month for each extra person. Level is $299 a month with 15 people included and $25 a month for each extra person. Enterprise is priced for your business: talk to us. Pay yearly and you get two months free.

Who counts as a person on my plan?

Anyone active on your team: owners, office staff and technicians, including people you've invited who haven't signed in yet. People you've deactivated don't count, and neither do your customers.

Can I change plans later?

Yes, from Settings → Billing. Move up when your crew grows or you want texting, marketing or the AI receptionist, and move down if you need less, as long as your active team fits the smaller plan. Your settings are kept if you move down.

Your data & security

Who owns my data?

You do. Your customers, jobs, estimates and invoices are your business's records; we process them to run the service for you and don't sell them or use them for advertising.

Read the privacy policy

Can I get my data out?

On the Level plan, owners and admins can download customers, jobs, estimates, invoices, payments, employees and time entries as CSV or NDJSON from Settings → Developers, in full or just what changed since last time, and use the REST API. Every plan can download its payroll hours as CSV.

How is my data kept safe?

Every company's records are kept apart and every request is checked against the company it belongs to. Passwords are stored as salted one-way hashes, two-step sign-in is built in (and you can require it for your whole team), you can see and end every session, and every change records who made it.

How we handle security

What can my technicians see?

Technicians see only the jobs they're assigned to and what hangs off them: their customers, those customers' estimates and messages, and the invoices on their jobs. Office roles see what their role allows, and only owners and admins change company settings and the team.

Do you track my techs' location?

Only while they're clocked in or heading to a job, so the office map and the customer's on-my-way text show where they are. Location history is deleted after 30 days.

Switching from Housecall Pro or Jobber

Why switch?

Crew & Level covers the day-to-day of Housecall Pro and Jobber: scheduling and dispatch, estimates with options and e-signature, invoicing, card payments from a text, memberships, texting, marketing and reports. It adds an AI receptionist for calls and texts, auto-scheduling by skill and drive time, and an open API, and every plan is one flat price for your team size.

Can I bring my customers over?

Yes. Export your customer list and price book from Housecall Pro or Jobber as CSV or Excel files and import them under Settings → Import, on every plan. We recognize both apps' columns, show you every row before anything is saved, and check for customers you already have (skip them, merge them or add them anyway). Then bring over past jobs, estimates, invoices and payments the same way: each is matched to its customer and keeps its dates, amounts and old number. Importing never texts, emails or charges your customers, and nobody is opted in to marketing unless your file says they agreed.

Can I run both while I switch?

Yes. The trial doesn't need a card, so you can put a week of real jobs through Crew & Level alongside your current software before you decide.

Can I keep my business phone number?

Texting and calling use a Twilio number connected to your account. Moving an existing number to it is a port through Twilio, which we don't do for you in the app yet.
